Privacy policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026

This page explains what personal data is processed when you visit Switzerland Running, in line with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, for visitors from the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

In short

  • No account, no sign-up, no contact form, no newsletter.
  • No cookies and no advertising or tracking tools.
  • We do not sell or share data about visitors.

Who is responsible

Switzerland Running, an independent, non-commercial project based in Switzerland. Contact: Instagram @switzerland.running (send a message).

What is processed, and why

  • Hosting. When you open a page, the server that delivers the website automatically receives technical data: IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type. It is used only to deliver the site and keep it secure, and is kept for a short time. The website is hosted by Vercel Inc. (United States); data may therefore be processed outside Switzerland, under the safeguards Vercel provides (standard contractual clauses).
  • Maps. Maps are loaded from the Swiss Confederation's map service (swisstopo, Federal Office of Topography, Wabern). To show them, your browser contacts swisstopo's servers, which receive your IP address.
  • Race database. Race information is stored with Supabase in Zurich. It contains information about races, not about visitors; your browser does not connect to it.
  • Fonts are served by the site itself (no Google Fonts or other external font service).
  • Links to other sites (race websites, Instagram) are plain links. Nothing is loaded from them until you click; after that, their own privacy policies apply.
  • Messages on Instagram. If you write to us on Instagram (for example to correct a race), we use your message only to answer it and to fix the information. Instagram is operated by Meta; its privacy policy applies.

The legal basis under the GDPR is our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Changes

If the website changes (for example if visitor statistics are added), this page will be updated and the date above changed.
